The value of a good referral is priceless and to this end, you will see ‘friend get friend’ campaigns trying to prompt this, or in the online world, Facebooks ‘like’ is a similar concept. Both of these are great ways to maximise referrals.
‘Friend get friend’ campaigns don’t have to be complex or expensive. It can be as simple as a flyer in with your next customer communication, with a reward for the referral linked to an actual customer sign-up or purchase.
But also think outside the box. If you can’t help the customer in a particular situation but know someone who can, you will be adding value to that customer in another way, which means they’ll be more likely to sing your praises.
